Six former Beaumont employees arraigned Friday morning

Six former Beaumont employees were arraigned Friday morning in Riverside Superior Court and will return to court on Friday, May 26, for a felony settlement conference.

Former Beaumont City Manager Alan Kapanicas, former Finance Director William Aylward, former city attorney Joseph Aklufi and Urban Logic principals Ernest Egger, David Dillon and Deepak Moorjani were in Judge Mac Fisher’s courtroom with their respective attorneys.

It was announced Friday morning that former Beaumont Police Chief Frank Coe was arraigned on Thursday, Jan. 26, due to a scheduling conflict.

A preliminary hearing date will be set during the May 26 court date.

Aklufi had requested a separate preliminary hearing, but was denied by Fisher.

Former mayors and city council members Brian DeForge and Roger Berg were scheduled to testify as character witnesses for Kapanicas, but were asked to return on May 26.
