Agenda Item 4.a: Fee Update

City is increasing Mitigation Fees and wants to create a ‘Deposit-Based Actual Cost Fee System’ for Planning and Public Works Fees.

Instead of charging standard fees the City wants to establish ‘Deposit-Based Actual Cost Fee System’. This will allow the City to repeatedly request more money from the taxpayer. This system will also encourage sloth as the more time wasted, the higher the charges.

And who’s employees control the Planning and Public Works Department?

Yes, both departments are controlled by Urban Logic.

The City of Beaumont states that they have been collecting Fire Station Mitigation Fees since 1999. The City claims to have $2.5 Million collected, which means there have been Mitigation Fees collected for 13,800 houses since 1999. The City plans to build 21,903 more houses to collect $14 Million in mitigation fees needed to build the fire stations.

There has been over $170 Million in mitigation fees collected since 1999 for a Fire Station, Regional Park, Recycled Water, and Roads and Bridges, but Staff and Council embezzled all the money and never built the facilities.
