A special meeting of the Beaumont City Council has been called for Monday beginning at 4:00 PM. This is in addition to the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday.
This meeting is is scheduled to start at a time when most people, myself included, will be at work and therefore unable to attend. The agenda lists eight law suits, including the WRCOG action that was settled last week. We all know why this meeting was called, it was called to only discuss one issue, or should I say more than 50 million issues.
There will be a public comment section for anyone who is available to speak followed by the council going into closed session. Once the council and our City Manager and City Attorney are done in the closed session they will return to open session to announce any action taken to any member of the public who may have decided to stick around. Since there is no designated end time for the secret meeting, this could be a couple hours maybe longer, it is unlikely there will be anyone to report anything to.
It is my prediction that the City Manager and City Attorney will recommend appealing the WRCOG ruling. Since the case will become pending litigation again, this will result in no one being able to discuss the matter again for a long time. Long after the election and long after millions more CFD dollars are mismanaged.
What else would you expect from men who were described by the judge in the case in the following manner:
THE EVIDENCE AND TESTIMONY REVEALS THAT CITY MANAGEMENT AND STAFF ENGAGED IN A PATTERN AND PRACTICE OF DECEPTION THAT TRANSCENDS THE TYPICAL GIVE AND TAKE OF DISPUTE NEGOTIATION. HAD THIS BEEN A TYPICAL CIVIL TRIAL CONTAINING ALLEGATIONS OF FRAUD,I WOULD HAVE FOUND FRAUD BY CLEAR AND CONVINCING EVIDENCE AS AGAINST THE CITY.
The big question is will the City Council go along with the plan and continue this fraud against our citizens. We should all have our answer by Tuesday night’s regularly scheduled council meeting. This will be the first time citizens will really have an opportunity to voice their disapproval of what has been done to our city.
The show on Tuesday begins at 6:00 and should be the hot ticket in town. Don’t be late if you want to get a good seat.
