Beaumont has ‘traditionally’ profited $6 Million/year from overcharging Mello Roos Property Taxes.
Since Kapanicas and Aylward slithered out the door Webb and Associates was hired to prepare the tax rolls.
Overall; the basic Mello Roos taxes are correctly calculated. Property Owners pay the same amount of taxes regardless of square footage.
There is a added Mello Roos tax on every tax bill for CFD Services. This was charged to every property owner in the developments to garner $3.7 Million to the City.
Solera Area 14A is also being charged a third CFD tax of $170.96.
Berg has stated that the third charge is for delinquent garbage bills, but I’m not buying this excuse. I’ve pulled a dozen random property tax bills from the Solera community and they all have the third tax labeled ‘CFD 93-1 14 CITY OF BEAUMONT’.
I find it hard to believe that Solera Residences have waited until their old age to start a life of neglecting their bills.
If it was for a delinquent garbage bill it wouldn’t/shouldn’t say ‘CFD’.
