Beaumont Quality of Life/Code Compliance
While every other department in the City is being decreased, Code Compliance, or ‘Quality of Life’ as it is masked in Beaumont, is proposed to be increased.
This department should be decreased, not increased. This department is predatory and the cause of multiple hardships in the City of Beaumont. This department needs to be downsized and have oversight.
The Budget states currently six (6) employees, but are eliminating one.
Incorrect. There has always been 5 ‘Quality of Life Officers’. The question is why?
There is no other agency in California that has Quality of Life Officers as a job title.
The City removed the individual Departments from the old Budgets, but I have a hard copy. The ‘Purpose’ listed in the 2012/2013 Budget was:
“The Quality of Life department is responsible for coordinating responses to issues that impact the community’s quality of life. The issues may include, but are not limited to, nuisance animal issues, municipal code violations, and parking violations. The Quality of Life Team will work with the police department’s problem and community-oriented policing unit to ensure that all components of these issues are addressed to maintain a vibrant, livable city.”
