To the Editor,
So Mayor Brenda Knight is pleased that some people called on her to keep the “free” concerts going in Beaumont to the tune of roughly $300,000 a year.
The only snag is, that is the equivalent of being behind on the mortgage, yet going to the casino for one final binge before the city is forced into rehab.
But wait, I am forgetting that we have the “General Fund” which is full of money from taxpayers like myself and my neighbors and many unsuspecting newcomers, plus it has the added magic ingredient, transparency!
Just don’t look back at the murky, opaque past where $300,000 wouldn’t get you a city manager (now we are paying for two ) or a police chief !
How is the FBI / DAs investigation going into that mess or have they hit the snooze button?
