The Beaumont City Council could adopt new rules of decorum when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 7 at the Civic Center, 550 E. 6th St.
City attorney John Pinkney is suggesting the council adopt Rosenberg’s Rules of Order, which require boards to establish order, be clear, be user friendly and enforce the will of the majority while protecting the rights of the majority.
The new roles are meant to help streamline meetings, which recently have gone on for four hours or more.
Council members also will consider revising procedures for hiring contractors and review the city’s federal and state lobbying contracts.
