City officials used an outdated environmental study when analyzing the proposed Heartland project, which could bring 5 million square feet of new industrial warehouses to Beaumont.
A representative of our Air Quality Management District has expressed significant concern about the impact such a project could have. How much traffic and pollution would this project actually bring? What are the potential health consequences for local residents?
The City Council will be holding a workshop to consider these issues on Tuesday, July 2nd at 6:00 p.m. Please come and express your concerns.

Homework Counts for a Third of Your Grade
By Lloyd White
We learned at the last council meeting that the mayor and his fellow council members believe they were elected to follow the city staff and aren’t required to do their homework on important issues such as the Heartland Warehouse. Luckily for us, they have agreed to hold a workshop on July 2nd. This will give us the opportunity to do their homework for them and hopefully help them to make better, more informed decisions…
Heartland Homework Assignment #2
By Lloyd White
This is part two in a series of posts. The purpose of this series is to prepare the public to help our city council members with their homework considering the 5 million square foot warehouse project known as the Heartland project. The mayor has worked hard to pass the change in land zoning this project would need to move forward as a warehouse distribution center. It appeared in earlier council meetings that the members failed to do their homework and relied too heavily on a faulty staff report…
Warehouse Workshop Flyer
By Lloyd White
Today I received confirmation the Warehouse Workshop will be held next Tuesday, July 2 beginning at 6 pm at city hall.
The city did indicate it is tentative and they have cancelled meetings in the past. We should know for sure when the agenda comes out Friday.
Please distribute this flier to everyone you know by what ever means you have. Use Facebook, Twitter, email, or print it out and hand it to someone. I truly believe we can stop this project.
