Of the $14,902.55 charged to the City, $5,965.55 was to pay another Consultant, Bob Deis, for labor relations.
Bob Deis was the Stockton City Manager from July 1, 2010 to October 31, 2013. He is infamous for including the City’s liability for unfunded Employee’s Pensions in Stockton’s Bankruptcy.
Deis’ brilliant strategy for Stockton was not to hold the people that put the city in financial distress accountable, but to cut City Employees and Service in order to pay Lawyers and Consultants. Like Beaumont; Stockton receives enough Tax Revenue to provide quality services, they just don’t make enough to provide services and pay lawyers and consultants. Like Beaumont; Stockton had to choose, and they chose to pay lawyers and consultants.
Today Stockton is crime-ridden mess.
Bob Deis currently works for Renne Sloan Holtzman Sakai Public Law Group as a Consultant. Deis was flown in to speak with Beaumont City Manager Urtiaga on June 10th regarding a Compensation Study.
Considering Deis’ ‘expertise’, it’s not surprising that Beaumont’s Budget cuts were on the backs of the line workers.
The City of Beaumont did not pay $5,900 for a compensation study, they paid $5,900 for Deis to sell them a compensation study. The cost of the compensation study has yet to be revealed.
