Beaumont Opposes WRCOG Motion Seeking Fees
Beaumont, CA—In January the City of Beaumont appeared in court at a hearing to oppose the Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) motion seeking an award of attorney’s fees and trial costs in the WRCOG lawsuit. After oral argument at the hearing, the Judge took the matter under submission to conduct further research in response to the City’s arguments.
On Monday, March 2, 2015, after six weeks of review, the Judge upheld his decision and awarded WRCOG $1,267,254.60 in legal fees and $810,270.60 in trial costs. The City of Beaumont will appeal that order which will be heard with the pending appeal on WRCOG’s judgment for $42 million. The City is confident that it will prevail in the appeal and that the judgment and fee order will be reversed.
