Beaumont City Council Attempting Illegal Sewer Fee Increase

Is SB 54 on the Beaumont City Council Agenda to Distract from the Sewer Fee Increase w/o Voter Approval?

Beaumont Staff and Council have created quite a circus and what’s that at the end of the Agenda?

The Illegal Sewer Fee Increase. Imagine that.

“Since November 2015, the WWTP’s flows have routinely exceeded the 75% threshold of 4.0 MGD design capacity.”

Yes, the Sewer has exceeded Capacity since at least 2015, but that’s not what the Reports from Webb and Associates has been saying.

The city was supposed to collect mitigation fees to pay for sewer expansions – the current ratepayers have already paid for their sewer capacity.

From the NBS Report: “Key Assumptions and Recommendations: For FY 2018/2019 through FY 2022/23, the projected net revenue requirement grows from $6.4 million to $11.7 million, annually.”

Almost doubling revenue in five years is quite an assumption. The City only has two revenue sources; the current ratepayers and new housing developments.

I’ve got one word for this Sewer Fee Increase: RECALL
