City’s Own Engineering Report of TUMF Eligible Projects Signed By Deepak Moorjani
At the January 15, 2013 Beaumont City Council Meeting a TUMF Eligible Project Report was submitted by City Engineer and Urban Logic Principal Deepak Moorjani. http://www.ci.beaumont.ca.us/DocumentCenter/View/16590
Page 10 lists the road projects the City is/was attempting to label as ‘TUMF Eligible’. In the Press Release Mayor Knight stated: “The City of Beaumont is appealing the judgement because the ruling is based on the mistaken idea that Beaumont and all cities in Western Riverside County are required to quit their own road building programs, do nothing but collect TUMF fees, and turn all major road funding to WRCOG.”
#1 – ‘All cities’ did not commit fraud – only the City of Beaumont. Every other city in WRCOG understood that TUMF was for regional projects and the cities were still required to collect local mitigation fees for local projects.
#2 – All of the roads listed are either local or non existent. What alerted the WRCOG to the corruption in Beaumont was because the City was putting in two-lane roads and calling them four-lane roads. But to list $12.7 Million for the Portrero Boulevard Interchange when the city stole all the money is just as ridiculous as bragging about a state-of-the-art recycled water plant that doesn’t exist.
Below is the list of streets the City is attempting to classify as ‘Regional’, but the roads are clearly local.
