What does the WRCOG ruling mean to our CFDs?

By: Lloyd White, | Original Article at Patch

I have been arguing for some time now that our city has been mismanaging our CFD fees. The judge in the WRCOG case agrees. So what can we do now?

It is likely our city council will consider using the CFDs to bail out the city to try and avoid bankruptcy. We need to be prepared to protect our interests. I will begin holding some discussion meetings to consider our options.  We have been trying to take control of our CFDs in the Stetson community and I already have a network in place. This will be a significant undertaking and is going to take a lot of citizens throughout the city. If you are interested in helping, please go to the Stetsoncfd.org website and get your name on the mailing list.

The city of Beaumont is in serious financial trouble. We can no longer sit back and wait for the same people who created this problem to bail us out. If you sign up to help, a lot will be expected of you. If you aren’t committed to working hard to protect our future, please don’t bother signing up. You can email me directly at

if you have any questions.

The best thing to do now is to go to Stetsoncfd.org sign up for the newsletter and share the site with everyone else. Right now the site is specific to the Stetson CFD but once I am able to gauge the interest in our community is significant enough to run a successful city wide project, I will ramp up the site to be more relevant to the city wide concerns.

Thank you.
