What is wrong with this picture?

Letter to the Editor Written by Geoffrey Wilson, Reprinted from the Record Gazette

To the Editor,
Beaumont is a small but growing city of approximately 40,000 and the City Manager, now on paid leave, makes about $350,000 pay and benefits a year, about the same as the city of Escondido Manager, only he has more than six times the number of residents. Look up the pay of other top dogs at the city of Beaumont, recruited we’re told by our friends at Urban Logic, and you’ll understand why the budget is not balanced and facilities are either missing or crumbling.

Now we are told that two “consultants” from Urban Futures (I couldn’t make that up!) are going to straighten the city’s finances out and hope to save us from bankruptcy but Beaumont looks “insolvent.”
Meanwhile the residents are facing an urban nightmare of declining property values, cutbacks in police and other services, such as they were, if the city does go bankrupt.
However, let’s look on the bright side, as we just received a glossy page from Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water with our bill telling us all what a great parks department we have so there will be plenty of room to spread your blanket on the parched landscape and wonder where the hell the money for our recycled water plant went to!
