Beaumont Finance and Audit Committee Meeting Canceled Two Hours Before

What Happened ? Did Someone in Beaumont Finally Google what ‘Disclaimer of Opinion’ Means ?

The Beaumont Audit and Finance Committee Meeting Scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2017, has been Canceled.

Audit and Finance Committee Agenda Included ‘Recommendation’ of 2014/2015 Financial Audit so it could be presented to Council at the January 17, 2017 Beaumont City Council Meeting.

In a normal setting; a Disclaimer of Opinion would elicit an emergency meeting and an immediate firing of the Finance Director and Accounting Staff. But Beaumont has no Accounting Staff and the City Council ‘Approved’ forging the Sewer Financial Statements on July 5, 2016.

The City of Beaumont Removed the Auditor’s Report from the Audit and refuses to release the Report that verifies that the City received a Disclaimer of Opinion of the FYE 2015 Audit.

The Audit and Finance Committee was not created to be a feel-good club. An Audit and Finance Committee is actually an SEC Requirement for every Agency that has Federal Municipal Bonds. It is also a Federal Requirement that each of the Committee Members have knowledge and expertise.

It’s going to be a little hard to claim ‘expertise’ after laughing off a Disclaimer of Opinion. How many of you understand that the Auditors would have not released the Audit without the Auditor’s Report attached?

And no, being the ‘first’ client of the Auditors to receive a Disclaimer of Opinion is not a ‘good thing’.
