Beaumont Agenda – September 3rd, 2013

Agenda 5.b.1 – Financial Update – City lists total Revenues for July, 2013 at $874,143 and total Expenses at $2,505,747. Spending three times more than the City receives is not a good way to start the fiscal year.

Agenda 5.b.2 – Sales Tax Update – This is a report from a marketing company predicting state-wide trends in California. The report predicts the population will continue to decline by .7% per year in the coming years.

Agenda 6.a.11 – City has $104,000 to pay AECOM, Inc. for a ‘Climate Action Plan’, but the company wants $257,900.

Agenda Item 6.a.5 – 31468-4 Notice of Completion Street, Drainage, & Sewer Improvements

Agenda Item 6.a.6 – 31468-8 Notice of Completion Street, Drainage, & Sewer Improvements

Agenda Item 6.a.8 – Improvement Agreement for Tract 34862-1

Agenda Item 6.a.9 – Improvement Agreement for Tract 31468-7

These are the same type of ‘agreements’ that are shuffled through every council meeting. The Developers are ‘agreeing’ because they have nothing to lose. All of the expenses are being paid by the City but without Voter approval.

Agenda Item 6.d. – 4th Street Extension for Potrero Bridge Overpass

Again the City has ignored the Citizens’ rejection of this multimillion dollar project. The City claims it is working with Caltrans, but there is no State funding for this project. Because there is no State funding the City is proceeding with construction on local roads – which means local Taxpayers will have to pay the bill.

The City has not closed their books in two (2) years. In the 1st month of the new Fiscal Year the City spent three (3) times more money than they received in revenue.

If Council refuses to control the City it is the duty of the Citizenry to control Council.
